Canadian Cancer Society – Daffodil Month
Dear Owen Sound Chamber of Commerce Members,
April is Daffodil Month and the Canadian Cancer Society is gearing up for another successful campaign in Owen Sound and across Grey Bruce. Every April the Canadian Cancer Society campaigns to raise money for the Society to continue its work in the fight against cancer.
With nearly 1 in 2 Canadians expected to be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and a nearly 35% surge in cancer cases anticipated by 2030 due to our growing and aging population, now more than ever, we need your generous support.
I am emailing you today about the opportunity to engage your workplace in the fight against cancer. I would like to provide you with daffodil pins to give to your employees to wear for the month of April. By wearing a Daffodil pin it not only shows the many people in our area who are impacted by cancer your support, but it shows the community a strong sense of unity in the fight against cancer.
Money raised during Daffodil Month will not only go towards funding the best cancer research, it also supports local services such as Peer Support for people with cancer and their caregivers, wigs, and transportation to cancer treatments through our Wheels Of Hope program.
Last year alone, our Wheels Of Hope 94 volunteer drivers travelled 503,371 kms to provide 3,847 safe rides to cancer-related appointments for 371 local people diagnosed with cancer.
